Velocity Alumni

one simple mission

Velocity Hockey Academy’s mission, like the NPU Rebel program that preceded it, is to prepare young hockey players for elite Canadian and U.S. college and university programs. The Velocity hockey program focuses on the development and goals of the student-athlete.

Our coaching philosophy is guided by the values of sports ethics, respect, pride and autonomy, while promoting academic success.

We take pride in a 99% graduate rate from the program, and have had alums go on to play at all the top collegiate levels in North America.

What players have to say about us

  • "The staff was incredibly welcoming and truly dedicated themselves to our development. The team environment was very positive and felt like a family. Coming to the rink was always a pleasure since everyone got along. The grade 12 option was a very positive experience and aloud me to continue my education without being overwhelmed trying to balance hockey and CEGEP. The high practice and game volume allows countless opportunities to learn and develop as a player."

  • "My experience this year with Velocity Hockey Academy has been extremely positive, especially through the Velocity Plus program. Having access to a personal trainer, a nutritionist, and a mental performance coach made a huge difference in my development. Each of them brought something important to my game, and together they helped me improve not just physically, but mentally as well. I would definitely recommend the Velocity Plus option to any player who’s serious and willing to put in the extra work. Coming from Gatineau and moving to Montreal was a big step for me, but the billet experience was great. The program really made sure I felt safe and comfortable throughout the whole process, which made the transition a lot easier."

  • "The program met all expectations, with practices on and off the ice, games and video. The coaches and staff did the part fantastically. For me the goalie coach being there 1-2 times a week made the improvement in our season. Overall I loved being a part of this program, everything was a amazing experience and being around good people made it better. Being apart of this team didn’t just change how I was as a goalie but as a person. Being the youngest on the team, I got the privilege to show the maturity that I have and be able to socialize with kids up to 4 years older than me. On this journey going from trip to trip or even locally I got to experience the amazing staff and coaches that support you but also the teammates that lift you higher. "

  • "This season with Velocity changed my game completely. As a defenceman, I became more confident, more composed, and more impactful every time I stepped on the ice. The coaching staff pushed me to another level and believed in me every step of the way. Being named to the NAPHL All-Star Team is something I’m extremely proud of, but it’s a reflection of the culture and environment around me. The memories, the battles, and the brotherhood made this year unforgettable. Velocity didn’t just develop me as a player—it made me who I am today."

  • "VHA provided me and all my teammates with the tools we needed to be successful both on and off the ice. Through online sessions, frequent practices and showcases, we grew as a team. Multiple players on the team got offers to play at the next level which was a gratifying experience to see the fruits of their hard work. Even though we couldn’t get it done in the end, I wouldn’t take back a moment."
